About the program
Virtual urgent care is available for children/youth (under 18 years of age) with a medical issue that is NOT life threatening but requires urgent attention. Appointments are provided via secure video chat with a nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
If your child has a primary care provider (e.g. family physician), they should be your first point of contact. Virtual urgent care may be an option if your child does not have a primary care provider or care cannot be accessed through them in a timely manner.
All appointment costs are covered with a valid Ontario health card.

Please read before booking an appointment:
- This service is staffed by nurse practitioners, whose scope of practice may differ from that of a family physician.
- Not all care can be delivered virtually. The nurse practitioner your child sees may refer you to in-person care, if necessary.
- If you are a parent of the child/youth, the child/youth must be present for the appointment with the Nurse Practitioner so that they can be properly assessed.
- Antibiotics are not routinely prescribed through this clinic.
- Prescriptions for controlled substances (such as narcotics, stimulants, or benzodiazepines) cannot be issued or renewed during an online urgent care appointment.
- Due to high patient volumes, there may still be a wait to see the nurse practitioner after you enter the virtual waiting room at your child’s appointment time.
